Having the chance to explore the world of Swarovski’s technology at their factory in Wattens. I was particularly struck by the importance of the angle of 47°, which is the point when reflection becomes refraction in the crystal. For this project we have explored ways in which this angle, combined with proprietary UV bonding techniques that emphasise colour, can be used to develop objects which exploit the properties of crystal in a new and exciting form. The intricacy of the pattern happens on the inside rather than outside.
